Decoding Dyslexia

A Speech to Print Approach to Reading

In this article Dr Jan Wasowicz argues that there are important differences to be considered between a ‘speech-to-print’ approach to literacy instruction and teaching that is based on ‘print-to-speech’. In Part 1 she explains what is generally meant by a ‘speech-to-print’ approach to teaching synthetic phonics, with particular reference to the underlying design of SPELL-Links TM to Reading and Writing. Part 2 provides some practical examples of how a speech-to-print approach might be implemented.
